Introduction to Wild Elephant Valley Scenic Spot
Xishuangbanna Wild Elephant Valley Scenic Area is located in Sancha River, Mengyang Town, about 47 kilometers north of Jinghong City, Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province. It is located in the Mengyangzi Reserve of Xishuangbanna * Nature Reserve, with a total area of about 370 hectares, a building area of more than 2800 square meters, and a water area of 8000 square meters. This scenic spot is a comprehensive eco-tourism scenic spot integrating eco-tourism, popular science research teaching, and leisure vacation. Xishuangbanna Wild Elephant Valley Scenic Area is a low-mountain, shallow hilly and wide-valley landform with an altitude of 747 to 1,055 meters. The area has vertical and horizontal ditches and rivers. The forest types are divided into tropical seasonal rainforest, monsoon evergreen broad-leaved forest and yellow bamboo forest according to the change of altitude. The forest coverage rate is 96%. There are about 50 groups in the Wild Elephant Valley, with 300 - 500 Asian wild elephants living and reproducing, as well as protected animals such as bison, giant lizards, pythons, green peacocks, hornbills, porpover-tailed monkeys, macaques, black bears, pangolins, and great civs. A large number of butterflies, birds and amphibians. There are many tourist projects in the scenic area such as high-altitude patrol elephant plank road, rainforest sightseeing cableway, Asian Elephant Museum, and Elephant Science Park. Without affecting the normal activities of Asian elephants, you can know and understand Asian elephants and experience their ecological home. In March 2002, the State Forestry Administration officially approved the "Asian Elephant Provenance Breeding Center" project to be settled in the Wild Elephant Valley. In December 2005, Xishuangbanna Wild Elephant Valley Scenic Area was rated as a national AAAA tourist attraction. In December 2013, Xishuangbanna Wild Elephant Valley Scenic Area was rated as the first batch of national eco-tourism demonstration zones.
